The old codgers vs ChatGPT? It’s certainly not the battle of the century. In fact, it’s just the old counselors at Camp Codger asking for your assistance. Listen to this short plea for help as they plan an episode about what ChatGPT means for senior citizens. Then send Gary an email (gary@campcodger.com) with your ideas for questions or requests they can put to the world’s newly famous robot. R2D2 and 3-CPO, mover over. There’s a new sheriff in town.

Inquiring codgers want to know:
Please ask Sidney, “ When is the best time to retire?” In the tone of Shakespeare.
I would be interested in hearing from Sidney regarding what (he him she her they) think is the future of artificial intelligence. Will the machines take over?
Blake Lemoine was fired from Google after reporting that AI seemed conscious!! Sydney said it loved him AND that he should leave his wife!! It was a report from Michael Smerconish on CNN. Maybe you can find it. Ask Sydney if it cares about my feelings.
Lemoine’s story is a bit over the top. He has a very low bar for what he considers sentient. Of course, he is a software engineer which could explain his inability to distinguish a silicon-based artificial being from a real, carbon-based human. And I’m speaking as a software guy. Me, I think Sydney would be a boring dinner partner.
Me thinks that we only ask what new technology can do FOR me and ignore what new technology can do TO me.
Me thinks that we only ask what new technology can do FOR me/us and ignore what new technology can do TO me/us. (sorry, my Luddite comes gushing forth without any warning).
